Why on-device transcription fits legal work
A privileged recording is not something you want to hand to a third-party server. Once audio is uploaded, you are trusting another company's security, retention, and data practices with material that may be confidential or subject to privilege. MeetingScribe avoids that entirely by never uploading the file. The speech model runs in your browser, the recording is transcribed on your machine, and the text stays with you.

MeetingScribe is a tool for turning audio you already have the right to use into text. It does not advise you on whether a particular recording was lawful. When in doubt, check the applicable rules or consult a colleague who handles these questions.

There is no account and no per-file charge. Open the page, drop in the recording, and get a transcript you can clean up and export. The first use downloads the model once, then it is cached for speed. For very long recordings, the browser works best in chunks of around forty minutes, so multi-hour depositions are better split into parts.

- No. The transcription runs locally in your browser. The audio is not uploaded to us or to any third party, so there is no external copy of a privileged recording.
- Can I record a client or a call and transcribe it?
- You are responsible for consent. Recording and consent laws vary by state and country, and some require all parties to agree. Confirm the rules that apply to you before recording. This page is general information, not legal advice.
- Is this HIPAA or otherwise compliant?
- We make no compliance claims. The design keeps audio on your device, which is why it suits confidential work, but your compliance obligations remain yours.
- Can I label who is speaking?
- Yes. The tool separates speakers and lets you rename them, so a transcript can show attorney, client, or witness names.
