Cookie Policy

Overview

This page covers everything MeetingScribe stores in your browser, whether or not it is technically a cookie. Browser storage that is not a cookie can still be used to recognize you, so listing only cookies would be a half answer.

The summary: no advertising cookie is set unless you accept the banner, analytics uses no cookies at all, and the rest is your own settings and cached files that never leave your device.

Set without asking, because the site needs them

  • Your cookie choice. Stored so the banner does not reappear on every page. Kept in your browser, never sent to us.
  • A returning-visitor counter. A small record that you have used the tool before, and how many transcriptions you have run. It has no identifier in it, is not linked to you, and is never transmitted. It exists so that anonymous analytics can distinguish repeat use from first-time use in aggregate.
  • Saved progress, on phones only, and only while transcribing. So that an interruption costs one part of a long recording rather than all of it. Deleted as soon as the transcription finishes, removable at any time with the button shown beside it, and swept automatically after 24 hours. See the privacy policy for the detail, including what it means on a shared device.
  • Cached speech models. The downloaded models are kept in your browser cache so later transcriptions start quickly instead of downloading again. This is ordinary browser caching of files, not tracking.

Analytics, which sets no cookies

We use Umami to count page views and anonymous events such as a transcription completing. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, builds no profile, and does not follow you to other websites. It never sees your audio, your transcript, or your file names.

Advertising cookies, only if you accept

The site is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. The advertising script is not loaded until you accept cookies in the banner. If you decline, it is never requested and no advertising cookie is set.

If you do accept, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to select, limit the repetition of, and measure adverts, which can include personalized advertising based on your browsing elsewhere. You can review and control that at myadcenter.google.com and read how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Changing your mind

Clearing this site's cookies and data in your browser settings resets everything on this page: your consent choice, the visit counter, and the cached models. The banner will ask again on your next visit, and the models will download once more the next time you transcribe.

You can also block or clear cookies for this site specifically without affecting others, from the padlock or site-settings menu next to the address bar in most browsers.

More detail

Our privacy policy covers what we collect and the rights you have over it, including which other companies your browser talks to when you use the tool. Questions go to hello@meetingscribe.net.
